Album Cover Art

My brother and his pals have a band called Red Nightfall. I'm not going to lie, they are pretty freakin' awesome and have a show coming up on March 28th at The Horseshoe Tavern. I'm trying to get a few people to come out and enjoy an evening out in Toronto, so if anyone is in the neighbourhood, please feel free to drop in and enjoy the show.

I know that my art isn't really their style, but I thought I would take a stab at some album art for their next release. Sadly, it didn't work out, but I feel like it should still be posted somewhere on display. I liked it!

Enjoy!

Pokemon Master

I don't know about you guys, but I love Pokemon. I've been going back and playing the old "Pokemon Red" on Nintendo Game Boy. That, in combination with all the little crochet monsters I've been making made me think about what it would be like if I were a real pokemon trainer!

I think it would look something like this...

I wanted to portray myself with the iconic Ash Ketchum Pokemon League hat, but it wasn't really working with my hair. I ended up deciding on just a skimpy tank top like what Misty might wear with the same logo from the hat. I also decided that the little monster I finished yesterday would make a perfectly fine starter pokemon. I really love charmander, but he didn't make the cut.

I am also not wearing any shoes... the real reason for this is that I don't think I need them to win a pokemon battle... though I've never battled before so I may be mistaken.

It is so sad pokemon doesn't really exist... I feel like if it did there would be many people upset about how cruel it is to make the little critters fight. I was under the impression they were only digital though, since they go into their little poke balls and you can store them on your PC. Anyways... if they WERE real, I would totally stop everything I was doing and become a full blown Pokemon Master!

Wouldn't you?

Another Little Monster

I finished another little crochet monster! My plan to finish the tasks I start is moving along nicely!!! This little guy didn't take me as long as the other two. I think it is partly because I am getting the hang of crocheting (finally).

Of course, I needed to make my cameo appearance to give you an idea of his actual size :D

I only have one more crochet monster left to make. I think I'll probably try either a red or a black. Part of me wants to make a monster hat that I can wear in the winter time!

Crochet Monsters

I'm making crochet monsters for my cousins/nephew. I finally finished the second one today. I have two more to go.

The yellow one is the first one I ever made... I don't really know what I am doing as far as fabric art is concerned... I am just playing it by ear and learning as I go along (a.k.a. I'm not following a pattern, I'm making up my own). I'm hoping to get better as I make these little guys (you can see the size below - please note my awesome T-rex hoody. Best Christmas present ever).

The next step is to finish the other two monsters. Hopefully I can finish at least one next weekend. I'll keep you updated on how things are going.

Let me know what you think about these little monsters. I'm a big fan, but I still need to work out the body proportions and whatnot. I'm sure the next one will be even cooler!

I gave up on art... but now I'm back!

I don't know if there is anyone else there that would love to draw and paint in their spare time, but they never find the chance to sit down and just DO IT. I've been trying to "get better" for such a long time, and looking back just makes me frustrated.

As many of you know, I have been out of school for a year and a half now, and I would say that my artistic abilities have come to a slow, excruciatingly frustrating stand-still. My career has taken me away from the creative industry and into this weird, customer service based world of soft skills.

I'm not saying soft skills aren't great to have, and believe me, I need the experience. I just feel that my actual artistic ability is no longer developing.

I realize that I need to take extracurricular skills development into my own hands. It is a difficult thing to do when you have so many things to balance in your life.

Once again, I will try to come up with a plan in hopes that I actually follow through...

1. FINISH OUTSTANDING TASKS - I'm one of those people that start a million things and then I never finish them (sound familiar?). I'm going to try and get all these creative projects and move them forward until they are finished.

2. POST MY PROGRESS - I'm going to start posting the things that I actually finish. Some of them are crafts, but I think they are still worth posting.

3. FINISH ANOTHER OUTSTANDING TASK - Once I finish one task, I'll try to complete another one. I'll let you know when these tasks are finally over and I can make a new creative plan.

Hopefully I can get this blog up and running again... Wish me luck!
