Pokemon Master

I don't know about you guys, but I love Pokemon. I've been going back and playing the old "Pokemon Red" on Nintendo Game Boy. That, in combination with all the little crochet monsters I've been making made me think about what it would be like if I were a real pokemon trainer!

I think it would look something like this...

I wanted to portray myself with the iconic Ash Ketchum Pokemon League hat, but it wasn't really working with my hair. I ended up deciding on just a skimpy tank top like what Misty might wear with the same logo from the hat. I also decided that the little monster I finished yesterday would make a perfectly fine starter pokemon. I really love charmander, but he didn't make the cut.

I am also not wearing any shoes... the real reason for this is that I don't think I need them to win a pokemon battle... though I've never battled before so I may be mistaken.

It is so sad pokemon doesn't really exist... I feel like if it did there would be many people upset about how cruel it is to make the little critters fight. I was under the impression they were only digital though, since they go into their little poke balls and you can store them on your PC. Anyways... if they WERE real, I would totally stop everything I was doing and become a full blown Pokemon Master!

Short Film!

Dan is starting his 4th year film at Sheridan this year… so, being a “grass is greener” kind of girl, I figured I would hop on the film train and see what I could do. I’m hoping to gain some experience, improve my skills and hopefully end up with a great portfolio piece.  We’ll see what happens! I’m giving myself 12 months to complete a 1 minute film, 100% on my own. Hopefully it won’t take me that long!

To start it all off, I am going to show you my first few concrete ideas I had for a film. The story is changing every day, so I am hoping if I stick a polar bear as a main character, it might rein in my ideas!

Unicorn... or bicorn!?!?!

I was thinking about unicorns.... why on earth don't people talk about BICORNS?!?! It makes more sense... it seems more realistic... I just don't understand how these have passed under the radar...

So I checked out wikipedia and apparently, bicorns are mythical creatures which devour kind-hearted and devoted husbands.... oh my!

I feel like there must a be better name for a two-horned horse... or extra-horned unicorn. Maybe an extracorn?? haha who knows!

Azula and Mulan.... combined!!!!

Dan and I have been watching "Avatar, the last airbender" quite a bit recently. I was inspired and tried to draw a pretty Azula, but it ended up looking kind of like Mulan!!!!

80's Neon fun colours!!!!

I've noticed I've been focusing a lot on character sketches much more than backgrounds/layout... I really enjoy drawing people and animals.

I had fun drawing this girl. I'm loving the crazy colours that everyone is wearing lately! I really need to get me one of those neon yellow/green shirts for when I am out and about on my rollerblades, bike or running! Then everyone would see me!!!

I was playing with a cintiq and I came up with this kitty drawing. I sometimes wish I was able to draw cartoons at work because I love them so much.... maybe one day I'll have my chance... until then, I'll just draw them in my free time.

I think I am FINALLY starting to get the hang of simple shapes... practice practice practice...

I woke up this morning and I realized how much I want a dog. I just love taking dogs for walks. It makes me feel so relaxed and is one of those "little things" that should be enjoyed.

Character Rotation

I have been spending most of my free time watching netflix and playing minecraft... this isn't very productive and I usually find myself bored and under-stimulated...

SOOOOOOOOOO....

after I get super tired from schoolwork (a.k.a. procrastination) I grab Dan's first year binder from Sheridan and start doing his assignments. Yes, I know I am a nerd... still finishing my own degree while spending my free time working on assignments from another one. 

My first assignment I gave myself was a character rotation (due week 4 haha). I decided to colour it in as well.

I named him Mr. Featherbottom. He has a beautiful blue backdrop as well :) Such a pretty bird :)

I think the next one will be a painting... I am not ready to animate anything... I shouldn't even have the time to do these things... but I need some sort of balance in my life.

Sunbathing

I got home from school today and pretty much just worked outside on our balcony. It is a beautiful day and I think I have a major sunburn.

I couldn't help but draw another pretty lady. I am really enjoying drawing girls.

Hawaiians

My sister and my brother-in-law were married this past week in Hawaii. I couldn't help but be inspired to draw some hawaiian girls.

Sadly, I am not comfortable enough yet in watercolour to try out skin tones... so they are all super white!

I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed making them :)

My Character! - Incomplete

I have been working on my flash character for my MRP this week. I really like how she is turning out. She is not finished, but as usual, I love posting unfinished work!

I am having difficulty making her look nice both very large and very small in flash (she is going to be talking to the users very close to the screen so she will appear large(like right now), but she also needs to shrink down and be "put away".... thumbnail size). Anyways, when she is small she looks funny... but I don't want to add black outlines because then she looks ugly and it doesn't flow with my website design.
