Sheep

Early morning on on the farm...

I'm trying to convince Dan to help me make my little sheep film. It's pretty much the coolest film idea of all time!!!! (Well, maybe not... but it is still pretty awesome!)

Hopefully I'll post more art as we move forward with this idea... I just need to find the time!

Album Cover Art

My brother and his pals have a band called Red Nightfall. I'm not going to lie, they are pretty freakin' awesome and have a show coming up on March 28th at The Horseshoe Tavern. I'm trying to get a few people to come out and enjoy an evening out in Toronto, so if anyone is in the neighbourhood, please feel free to drop in and enjoy the show.

I know that my art isn't really their style, but I thought I would take a stab at some album art for their next release. Sadly, it didn't work out, but I feel like it should still be posted somewhere on display. I liked it!

Enjoy!

I gave up on art... but now I'm back!

I don't know if there is anyone else there that would love to draw and paint in their spare time, but they never find the chance to sit down and just DO IT. I've been trying to "get better" for such a long time, and looking back just makes me frustrated.

As many of you know, I have been out of school for a year and a half now, and I would say that my artistic abilities have come to a slow, excruciatingly frustrating stand-still. My career has taken me away from the creative industry and into this weird, customer service based world of soft skills.

I'm not saying soft skills aren't great to have, and believe me, I need the experience. I just feel that my actual artistic ability is no longer developing.

I realize that I need to take extracurricular skills development into my own hands. It is a difficult thing to do when you have so many things to balance in your life.

Once again, I will try to come up with a plan in hopes that I actually follow through...

1. FINISH OUTSTANDING TASKS - I'm one of those people that start a million things and then I never finish them (sound familiar?). I'm going to try and get all these creative projects and move them forward until they are finished.

2. POST MY PROGRESS - I'm going to start posting the things that I actually finish. Some of them are crafts, but I think they are still worth posting.

3. FINISH ANOTHER OUTSTANDING TASK - Once I finish one task, I'll try to complete another one. I'll let you know when these tasks are finally over and I can make a new creative plan.

Hopefully I can get this blog up and running again... Wish me luck!

Snow Bird

Here is a cute little concept I came up with last night. It is a bird that is so fluffy he makes snow... or snow that covers a bird.

I'm still not overly confident with my digital painting skills yet, but I am getting the hang of it. Practice makes perfect... or, in this case, a funny looking bird!

Enjoy!

Little Monsters...

I don't usually paint with watercolour/gauche very often. I decided to try my luck once again with some paints...

It seems obvious to me that many of the artworks I produce have lighting issues. It is really hard for me to make the shapes look three dimensional. I suppose I should do some studies... I really don't enjoy doing them very much though!!!!

I saw the art of this german girl. I couldn't figure out her name, but she's pretty flexible with her style and incredibly talented. I was inspired by her little monsters and wanted to try some of my own!!! I think if I could create art like the stuff she does, I would feel pretty good about myself!!! Not yet... but hopefully soon!!!!

Enjoy!

Tree Kil Moon

hehe, this one is for my brother. Not that he reads my blog... but he used to listen to the band Sun Kil Moon. This is not the sun, but a tree killing the moon.

I actually just really wanted to paint, so I made a limited palette of colours I never use and had some fun!

Here's my palette:

Any my little painting:

22.1.12

Twiggy

I've never tried drawing a famous person before... I decided to start with Twiggy because she seemed like the easiest one! I'm not 100% sure if she is recognizable, but I had a fun time painting her. I found her iconic eyelashes extremely enjoyable to paint. She has a bit of a droopy face, which I like, but I am not sure if I captured it. My colour palate is also pretty primary... I'll try to expand as I learn more about watercolour!

22.8.11

Sun Dance

I decided to work with my hands today (and away from my computer and photoshop). I really enjoyed making this piece. I have never worked on this type of paper before... I think it turned out pretty well. I hope you enjoy this one!!!

I had another nightmare

last night and it was no fun. I decided to paint the beast from my dreams... but he ended up looking a lot cuter than I had hoped.

My dream included this creepy daemon that played piano at night... I kept fetching dairy products for him... like yogurt and milk. When he asked for soft serve ice cream, I had to pry open the wall to get it. Sadly, I also disturbed some creepy spirit that convinced the beast to kill everyone.. including me. I don't like dying in my dreams. No fun at all.

Anyways! I did this just now to get it all out of my system so I can have a fun day at the beach!

Homage to the Slime Mold.

I was talking to Dan today about how I used to love slime molds. I think I still love them. They are just sooooo cool! Created by hundreds of little cells migrating into a single colony.

This was a quick one. I really like how it is a little tilted. It seems like everything is unstable and is going to fall over any second. Hang in there little slime mold!

Enjoy!

30.6.11

the little planet

My friend Sheena bought me the children's book, "the little prince", I just started reading it yesterday and when I woke up this morning I just had this urge to paint a little planet like in the book.

This is a little rough but I think I am done with it.

Enjoy!

25.6.11

playing around with photoshop

Dan wanted to see me paint... so I painted this.

Nothing much to say about it. I was just having some fun :)

Retro

I absolutely LOVE art.

Creativity really replenishes your energy levels and keeps you feeling vibrant and healthy.

Enjoy!

and, of course, my inspiration :)

26.2.11

Parrots

Dan and I started a sketch blog to get us posting again! Here is my first post! The theme this week was parrots.

If anyone wants to join in, feel free to let Dan or I know :)

Weird day...

I woke up this morning and just couldn't do ANYTHING! I think it might be because I am sick and am a little bit tired. Anyways... unproductive day for school = productive blogging.

Enjoy!

I feel like I don't have a style yet. *sigh*... maybe one day... it will come....

Puberty

I was thinking a lot about sexuality today and growing up into an adult. You really can't choose to stay as a child for the rest of your life and growing up isn't always fun. I was thinking about the ghost of childhood that follows you through your life after you go through puberty. The child version of yourself that has no one to play with anymore... Just a thought.

One more thing... Dan I am so sorry if I stole your idea. After taking another look at this... it seems kinda similar to your Tron drawing... What can I say? I can't help but be influenced by the talented people around me!!!

I also saw this. I just can't get over how many people are so super fantastic at art!
